The majority of yachts that are available for charter are motor yachts, and they generally offer the broadest spectrum of luxury amenities and sporting opportunities, due largely to their volume. Most charter yachts accommodate between 8 and 12 guests. Some are capable of accommodating more, but strict maritime regulations means that 12 is usually the maximum number.

As well as numerous deck areas, dining areas and lounging areas, many of the larger motor yachts are equipped with saunas and spas, some have cinemas and gyms, some even have hair salons and dive centres. Almost all come with “personal watercraft” (aka Jet Skis), substantial tenders for fishing, waterskiing and exploring, and first-class entertainment systems with an onboard server than can play thousands of movies and music CDs.:
